When someone said to me a year ago that when I left secondary school, I would end up drifting apart from my friends, some that I have known since I was four, I honestly didn't believe it would happen.
A year on, I now realise that what everyone told me was true. In my day to day life I probably only now speak to two or three of my close friends from school, I guess as we went our separate ways, going to different colleges we all made new friends and became part of new friendship groups, we all started speaking to each other less, until our common interests had changed.
However, it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago, when I bumped into of my friends that I had unintentionally drifted apart from at the train station and I started talking to him, it felt like nothing had changed and our worlds were not so far apart as they may seem. It was then that I realised that no matter how much our lives change or how much time has passed your closest friends will always be your friends
Even though the conversation lasted all of five minutes, it showed that although you may not see your friends as much as you would like to, it doesn't mean there is a reason why you can't speak to them as they are still your really good friends, so it's fine to send them a message unexpectedly or have a two minute conversation when you see them, even when your in a rush, just taking the time to stop and ask them how they are, it shows you still care about them.
